Obituary of Mrs. Lindy Edda Theledi

(7 July 1945 – 3 April 2026)

Mrs. Lindy Edda Theledi was born on the 7th of July 1945 in Xanthia, Mpumalanga. She was the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Elizabeth Mkansi.

She began her junior primary schooling at Xanthia Primary School, after which she progressed to Buyisonto Middle and High School. She later attended Arthur Seat College, where she obtained her first Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She then continued her studies at Orobelang College, where she completed her second Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

Mrs. Theledi began her teaching career in 1964 at Meduping Primary School in Marite. During the early years of her teaching career, she met her husband, Mr. Lucas Motsosheng Theledi, while teaching at Meduping Primary School. The two soon married and were blessed with six children: Mildred, Herbert, Christopher, Tshepo, Tsietsi, and Lehlogonolo. Over the years their family grew to include 27 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Together with her husband, she built and developed a number of successful businesses in various sectors, including driving schools, liquor wholesale distribution and trade, books and stationery manufacturing and supply, clothing manufacturing, transport services, service stations, FMCG retail outlets, and property development.

They remained happily married until the untimely passing of her beloved husband on the 8th of July 1993. In their pursuit of growth and excellence in business, they travelled extensively during the 1960s to America and Asia on fact-finding missions to explore new opportunities and ideas.

Affectionately known as “Mama,” and fondly called Mastshaba, she was a remarkable woman—an extraordinary mother, a formidable spirit, and a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves behind a legacy defined by strength, intellect, and boundless love. Mama was a woman of rare charisma whose presence could fill a room. Her words carried wisdom, and her laughter brought warmth even in the most difficult of times.

Strong-willed and unwavering in her convictions, she lived her life with purpose and dignity. She faced life’s challenges with courage and determination, inspiring those around her to persevere and strive for excellence. Her sharp mind and deep wisdom made her a trusted confidant, a fierce protector, and a pillar of strength for her family.

Above all, she was a loving mother. Her love was constant, generous, and unconditional—a steady force that shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Her legacy is not only in what she achieved, but in who she was: a woman of integrity, grace, and strength—a true home and nation builder.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the values she instilled, the lives she touched, and the memories we will forever cherish.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and eternally honored.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
